Several
times some people wrote to me that they had been using Chemcraft during several
years, and only after that they found some Chemcraft features which were useful
for them, and it is a pity that they were not aware of these features during
these years. To check how widespread such situation is, I created a poll in the
Chemcraft facebook group:
As you can
see from this screenshot, 6 of 11 people voted that they looked through the
Gallery and Hints webpage and after that they indeed found some features useful
for them. Among others, 4 people were already aware of almost all features so
they didn’t need to look through the Gallery.
This poll
illustrates that many Chemcraft users make a common mistake – they don’t look
through our gallery and don’t know about some good features.
So, if you
have purchased Chemcraft or plan to do that, we highly recommend you to look
through our gallery. Once again, visit the following two webpages:
One more
advice is to simply read the names of all menu items (including submenus) of
the Chemcraft main window. These menu items have long and descriptive names,
e.g. “Insert dummy atom into center of selected atoms”, “Move coordinate center
to selected atom”, “Release all current captions to supplement the captions
with new ones”, “Calculate the energy of e reaction”, “Modify multiply Gaussian
input files”, “Build animated gif from a set of bitmap/jpeg files”, etc.
For several years, I use the Chemcraft, and some features up to this moment really didn't know! Very useful gallery. Perhaps it is useful to make a link to it from the application?
ОтветитьУдалитьI have made this link in the latest build of Chemcraft (b560).
УдалитьHow can I use my own schemes in new versions (ex. b562b) if they were made in previous (ex. 523a)? Even folders with schemes have different names (schemes2 and schemes3).
ОтветитьУдалитьBesides you, some other Chemcraft users wrote to me about this problem.
УдалитьI thought it is not really significant, because (as I thought), the set of default schemes is suitable for almost all needs.
However, if a sufficient number of users use their own schemes, I will have to elaborate this in next releases of Chemcraft.
The scheme folder was changed because the format of files with schemes has changed, and the new format is incompatible with the previous one. Next time I will possibly provide back compatibility in Chemcraft, or maybe I will write a small program for converting the scheme files from one format to another.
However, anyway the current format (schemes3 folder) will not be compatible with the previous one, so you need to re-customize your schemes (or maybe use a previous version of Chemcraft, which can be downloaded at our website).
It would be very nice, if you write program for convertation.

ОтветитьУдалитьThe gallery page really helps the user to get to know the software better. I know some people that goes first to the gallery before reading the features page in order to save time. Besides some images are an artistic masterpiece
